The COVID-19 pandemic exerted a strong impact on the economy, including on the industrial sector. In this context, we focused our analysis on estimating the impact of the COVID-19 shock on the EU industry developments. Therefore, we estimated two econometric models to identify the impact of the COVID-19 shock on the confidence in industry and on the industrial production, over the period January 2018 - November 2020, using Panel EGLS method. Our estimation is based on Eurostat data with monthly frequency, but also on a dummy variable we have created to catch the COVID-19 restrictions (shock). We have found a strong impact of the COVID-19 shock on both industrial indicators, which supports the need to continue adopting appropriate policies to boost this sector, since the outlooks are still exposed to uncertainty and depend on the vaccination speed....
In the last decade, measuring the effectiveness and the effects of information and communication technologies has become a very important issue for companies. Company managers often argue over the effects achieved by integrating innovative information technologies and systems. It is a general consensus that innovative pervasive technologies, information and communication technologies and information systems can help companies succeed in competition, simplify their work and make effective use of the opportunities offered, as well as identify potential threats. Making it easier for employees to maintain work-life balance and to facilitate the combination of different social roles increases job satisfaction. WLB is usually analysed in the context of a conflict between various requirements relating to involvement in one’s work and playing other important life roles. Questionnaire surveys were carried out to assess the implementation of work-life balance systems in enterprises and to identify what factors cause employees to be satisfied in the spheres of work and private life. The survey was conducted on 601 employees from the West Pomeranian Voivodship in Poland. Only selected questionnaire questions were used for the analysis carried out in this article, which was part of a larger study on human resources management in enterprises. The questionnaire covered both closed and open questions. Research shows that only half of respondents said that their companies have programmes in place to facilitate the linking of work and private life. Respondents also pointed to work-related factors that determine a happy, successful life. It turned out that factors dependent on work (such as satisfactory work, good working conditions) are an important condition for a successful life....
The study identifies the peculiarities of e-learning in the transitional period in secondary vocational and higher education in self-isolation mode, caused by COVID-19. In this research, the authors aim to determine the capabilities of online learning tools and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) implemented in the academic process for all levels of Higher Education: Bachelors / Masters Degree Programs. The article focuses on the Professional Training experience within the course that took place in the academic year 2020-2021atthe Theater College of the Crimean University of Culture, Arts and Tourism, and the Sevastopol State University. The study identifies the digital challenges that took place in the academic year 2020-2021 in the degree course. Based on the analysis of literary sources and the conducted empirical study, the authors present and substantiate blended learning peculiarities, online learning tools or e-learning tools, their efficiency and feasibility in developing the modern digital educational environment. The paper highlights the main regulatory framework of implementing elearning and organizing the educational process using distance learning technologies; analysis was conducted, and propositions for the improvement of the regulatory framework of implementing e-learning and organizing the educational process in the higher education institutions are designed. The method of analysis, generalization and classification was used to process information about current and expired legal documents to design the algorithm for implementing e-learning and remote learning technologies. A crisis can occur with little or no warning, anywhere, and at any time. Crisis management seeks to help organizations cope with specific, unexpected, and non-routine events that create high levels of uncertainty and threat. Although the crisis management literature is plentiful regarding the business sector, little has been written on this subject when it comes to nonprofit organizations (NPOs). This article aims to identify the level of crisis management preparedness and response of the North Portugal NPOs, in the context of COVID-19 pandemic, with enormous numbers of spread disease and deaths, mainly in the senior segment. A qualitative approach is developed with an exploratory and explanatory study based on six semi-structured interviews, carried on in May 2020. The findings of the study suggest that NPOs were not prepared or had any type of planning to face a crisis, and simply reacted following the guidelines of official bodies and creating contingency plans oriented by these entities. Further, this study argues that NPOs need to actively engage in everyday maintenance and updating to prevent crisis activities to build organizational security, transparency, and accountability. The study adds to previous research on crisis management on NPOs, by proposing the identification and exploration of a set of activities that accurately enables the assessment of crisis management strategies within the context of NPOs, on an emergency event....
